3D animation is a great way to tell a story as well as entertain people. This Art is everywhere around the globe except for Africa. Well, i can at least say for Nigeria. There are a lot of potentials here for this business to grow and ultimately make profits from. And there also is a chance that with time, we could go head to head with Pixar, Disney, Blue Sky etc. Though very young in the game, i've seen some very good modellers and texturers here and some good animators as well. I know that with the little i've seen, churning out a movie with the right machinery in place wouldn't be a problem. There are also other potentials here for 3D and so many story lines to go with or develop that also is untapped. I for one would very much love to create the animations for a 3D game here in Nigeria whenever faith crosses my path with a very good programmer sharing the same vision as myself. And as i write to you, i've not quite met any that have been able to convince me why i should be on a project building a game.
Now, every business needs money and projects are most of the time having people from different disciplines handling their business as a contribution to that project. And the problem here is not entirely because we are not aware that 3D exists here or has creeped into our system, but because a lot of us don't understand how it is run, who does what and maximum duration of work. All these are necessary and will help avoid or at least minimize conflicts.
I'm looking at starting a 3D studio here in Nigeria, Lagos precisely and i'm hoping i get a Partner to finance it. There is a lot to gain as earlier explained and i know something good will come out of it. So, if you are an investor waiting to pour your money into something like this, now is the time.
